Skimmer net, wall brush, vacuum head with hose, test kit. These four items are non-negotiable.
The skimmer net removes surface debris before it sinks and creates chemistry load. The brush loosens algae and biofilm from walls before it takes hold. The vacuum removes debris from the floor before it decomposes. The test kit tells you what your water actually needs before you add anything.
A test kit is not optional. Adding chemicals to water you haven't tested is how above-ground pools end up cloudy or green. It takes 60 seconds to test. It takes three days to fix a pool that was treated incorrectly.
4. A Cover — Two Types, Two Different Jobs
